musings : the highlight reels vs reality

 


a picture-perfect capture. it’s aesthetic. it’s intentionally captured. it brings me joy; but it’s not a reflection of 3 inches to the left, let alone my(or anyone else’s)value.

behind the lens is a 27 year old mama, raising a toddler who is serverely in need of a shower(me, not the toddler 😂)- but you would never know that by this capture alone.
i think the internet has its place for vulnerability, but i think it truly is meant to highlight your life. it’s healthy and happy to live your life in a treasure hunt for beauty and wonder. but it’s also okay to remind people that in said journey-sometimes all that’s beautiful is a frozen moment captured at just right time. and that’s okay too (:
