christmas came early this year, and it’s truly a happy time.
2020 has limited many traditions, gatherings, new experiences (hello 2020 mamas/graduates!) and much more—so i feel like this holiday season is something we have clung tight to & want to experience as long as humanly possible.
christmas just encapsulates all things cozy & i’m here for it.
when it comes to decorating my home (in any season) i love to bring the outside-in while also keeping away from a specific holiday. so for instance—my fall decor looks like random real pumpkins (gourds and squash variations are my go-to’s) , a cozy warm yellow-toned throw, and citrus garlands.. no halloween skeletons, no faux leaf garlands, no ghost pillows… i don’t hate on these things or anyone who chooses to decorate with them, i simply do this for convenience & to keep myself sane with less clutter!
i love the tones and textures of foraged foliage—plus the smell of fresh pine is christmas goals IMO!
this year i decided to part ways with the mini wooden trees, ceramic homes, and other knick-knacks & keep things simple, earthy, and intentional.
how i went about that was simply disperse garlands and other greenery around the house, buy a REAL christmas tree and keeping things simple with diy citrus garlands which i actually have a whole tutorial on here.
i also plan on making some beeswax candlesticks to take cozy to that extra level. ya know?
last thing — when it comes to christmas specifically-especially now that i have become a mother, i really would like to focus solely on the purpose for the season, and keep the decor from overshadowing that. there’s nothing wrong with going all out & decorating to the nines—but i love the whole minimal aspect of it, and less mess = less distractions for me at least, so that’s just sorta how it ends up going over here lol
anyway..
i thought i’d take you around the styx haus & maybe show you that less really can be “more” & just simply inspire a more intentional and sustainable take on the holiday season!
i hope you enjoy, and maybe leave a comment on what your favorite Christmas tradition is!!
something about christmas greenery just makes me happy!
at the end of the day, the holiday season is fun & happy & however you decide to decorate and whatever it is that you celebrate—i hope you make so many sweet memories because that’s all that matters!!
