a prayer playlist

i don’t know about you, but music has been such a deep and vulnerable act of worship in my life. without going into crazy backstories, i was a part of my small church worship team from mid-youth years up to my young adult ones, and those are pivotal moments in my walk with Christ that will always, always be cherished.

so, some backstory about this spotify playlist i made; i found out i was pregnant in August of 2019 and it came as a complete shock. we had just bought our first home, i had many plans to renovate and sell, to then move across the country and potentially start our family there. What i have learned most about God since the day those two lines appeared, is that His timing is so good. it is uncomfortable, but looking back i couldn’t have picked a greater moment for my life to shift.

i started adding songs to a worship playlist that i had, and after a little while, i created a new one for the songs that i found myself replaying over and over. an intentional hub for when i needed to slow down, and simply be in His presence. it became my prayer playlist. all of these songs have a backstory to my life and speak into them in a way that honestly can’t be explained.

it’s a soul-flutter kinda thing.

when days felt unknown, or uncomfortable, or the hurt blacked out any potential joy, these became my prayers.

i kept this playlist secret for over a year because it felt vulnerable. it felt almost too real to put out into the world ( all seven followers i had ). it felt as though it needed to be just mine and His for a little longer.

but today, i decided to be vulnerable, so that someone may find rest and joy and hope in the same ways i did/do. i hope that these songs bring healing into your life. that they speak to depths of your heart that are otherwise lacking.
